Too many people do not know who Kevin Durant, Danny Granger, and Brandon Roy are. Of course many basketball fans do, and people who live in the cities these players play in.
Everyone can recognize Kobe Bryant and Lebron James. The NBA needs to do a better job marketing its young stars, to gain recognition of smaller market teams. It is good that small market teams have excellent players, but they need expsoure.
The Oklahoma City Thunder have an excellent chance to make the playoffs. If they make the playoffs, thta should not be the first time people learn about them and their players.
They have young stars like Kevin Durant, who is becoming one of the NBA’s best all around players. Forward Jeff Green and point guard Russell Westbrook are two other solid young talents.
Danny Granger is also emerging as one of the league’s best all around players. His talents are overshadowed by the Indiana Pacers’ lack of success the last few years. Since Reggie Miller retired, the Pacers have not been very competitive.
Granger’s only hope for national attention is for the NBA to market his great skills, because realistically, the Pacers do not appear headed towards the playoffs.
Market the young players, and small market teams, and this league will thrive for many many years.
