The Washinton Wizards announced that Antawn Jamison will miss the first 8-13 games of regular season owing to his shoulder injury.

The Washinton Wizards announced that Antawn Jamison will miss the first 8-13 games of regular season owing to his shoulder injury. The champion forward suffered an injury while blocking a shot during an exhibition game against Cleveland on 14th October. Earlier, the Wizards estimated the All-Star performer to miss only the preseason games. But it seems their estimation proved wrong.

The team’s president Ernie Grunfeld expressed his concerns over the matter. He said that Jamison is expected to miss play for three weeks. Jamison on the other end is trying to gain fitness with each passing day. He said he could dribble the ball, but it will take time before he can shoot. “The biggest thing for me is to, even though I feel great, still continue to work, still stick with somewhat of a timetable,” Jamison quoted.

The Wizards are going through a rough patch, having three performing players going down with injuries in the last 3 seasons. However, coach Flip Saunders sees hope “You always want to be at full strength when you can, it’s a good challenge for the rest of the guys on the team. We’re trying to be conservative with it. It’s not a situation where we think he’s going to miss extended time. Because of that, it’ll give other guys a good opportunity.”

Jamison started the year with enthusiasm missing only one game. He is leading the team which is at scoring 22.2 points per game. The Wizards start playing Tuesday, with Jamison missing in action.
