Jamaal Tinsley is facing a lawsuit after an equipment manager of the Indiana Pacers decided to sue the star player over a shooting incident where the employee, Joey Qatato got permanently impaired in both arms with gunshots to his elbows. Tinsley, along with a few companions, was part of a group targeted in a shooting incident in December 2007. Although Tinsley was not injured when leaving the downtown hotel, Qatato couldn’t escape the gun shots. >
A confrontation erupted as the Pacers player left a club called “Cloud 9”. The entire group had come in a Mercedes, a Rolls Royce and a Dodge Charger, all owned by Tinsley.
Qatato was held in the back seat of the Rolls Royce after Tinsley and his cousin left the car for the hotel. Only the driver of the car could have let Qatato loose from the back seat. Qatato went on to file a lawsuit in Marion Superior Court where the suit names Jamaal Tinsley and his cousin in a case of negligence, misconduct and infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment.
The police is said to have given the entire group of people a tough time, talking to him about his earnings and cars. The cars left only for the entire motorcade to be followed by a grey-coloured Chrysler and a dark pick-up truck. The entire group decided to turn into the Conrad Hotel instead of going home.
That is when the shooting is said to have begun, Tinsley’s car was riddled with bullets and 5 bullets struck the charger. An assault rifle is said to have been used for the attack.
Jamaal Tinsley has been on the reserves bench without getting a single game for the Pacers. He has been on the team roster, and will be for one more year when his contract expires, especially after the Pacers were unable to trade him out with no takers coming forth with worthy offers.
