A small fight broke out in Game 6 of the clash between the Chicago Bulls and the Boston Celtics on Thursday. With Chicago leading by 34-25, a Stephon Marbury attempt from behind the arc was rebounded by Derrick Rose with just 30 seconds remaining on the first quarter clock. The action suddenly shifted to the center of the court as Rajon Rondo shoved Kirk Hinrich into the scorer’s table. Hinrich retaliated with a push to which Rondo threw an elbow, however he missed his mark.
The Celtics’ point guard was charged with a flagrant foul for his actions and despite appeals, the NBA decided not to upgrade the foul or hand out a suspension to Rondo for the deciding Game 7 of the series.
This is the second time that Rondo has been saved by the League, the previous time was for a foul on Brad Miller in the final seconds of Game 5 against the Bulls.
