Danilo Gallinari is a professional basketball player from Italy who now plays in the NBA. When he was only 15, he was a pro with Casalpusterlengo. During the 2005-06 season, he represented Edimes Pavia and participated in 17 games to average 14.3 points. Further, he joined Olimpia Milano and for the remnant of his Italian league career recorded double digit scoring averages.
NBA selection
In April 2008, he was declared available for the NBA draft. After 2 months, the New York Knicks selected him overall 6th. When the selection was announced, some people criticized it, but along with time Gallinari has become popular amongst the Knicks fans.
Current season
In the current season, Gallinari had a back injury due to which he could take part in just one game before 17th January 2009. After he returned back from his injury on 17th January 2009, he reached double digits for the first time in his NBA career. On the recent Sunday, while playing against the New Jersey Nets, he got the chance to play for 25 minutes during which he scored 15 points and shot 60 percent from the field. Late during the fourth quarter, he managed a three pointer due to which the Knicks led by 99-98. Although, the Knicks were defeated by 106-101, it became evident how much useful Gallinari was to his team. Regarding this game, Gallinari commented that he knew the type of player he was. He knows he can improve, but he also knows what he can do. He added that he was excited regarding each game and each day at practice. He was overjoyed to be a part and parcel of an NBA team and of the surrounding society.
