The Golden State Warriors’ General Manager, Bob Myers, may become the highest-paid General Manager in the NBA if he chooses to sign a contract extension with the team.
It is believed that the Warriors have indeed extended numerous contract offers to Myers in the last calendar year. Sources say that one of those offers would make him the highest-paid GM in the NBA.
His contract is set to expire in the end of June. If reports are to be believed, the Warriors and Myers have had no serious contract extension talks and all sides are readying themselves for the possibility that Myers might walk away from the franchise, all together.
CJ Holmes of the San Francisco Chronicle commented on the possibility of Myers getting a big contract offer saying:
“While it may not be enough to keep Bob Myers with the Golden State Warriors, multiple league sources believe that the contract offer extended to the team’s president of basketball operations would make him the highest-paid general manager in the NBA.”
Sources have also stated that the offer may exceed US$10 Million in annual salary.
Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPEN said that Myers is currently torn about the decision and is set to make up his mind in the next few weeks.
Myers first joined the Warriors back in 2011 as assistant general manager. He was promoted to GM the following year and he is often cited as the architect of the team’s storied success over the past decade or so.
He is also beloved by Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, and even Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.
