The Los Angeles Lakers have put a stopper to the Golden State Warriors’ run to the finals with their 122-101 Game 6 win.
The Lakers started with an early 17-point lead and didn’t look back. The pace of the game was completely controlled by LeBron James who made 30 points and nine assists. Anthony Davis also did his part, scoring 17 points and 20 rebounds.
Speaking of James’ performance, Coach Darvin Ham said: “Simply remarkable. Played downhill all series, fingerprints all over the game, steals, blocked shots, remarkable.”
Despite Steph Curry’s efforts, scoring 32 points, the Warriors struggled the entire game. Unfortunately, he only managed to get back up from Donte DiVincenzo. Klay Thompson struggled and Jordan Poole continued to struggle with turnovers and not hitting the basket as he has been all of the playoffs.
Also letting the Warriors down was Draymond Green. Andrew Wiggins, on the other hand, was clearly injured and struggling as well.
The Lakers became the first team to win against the Warriors since Steve Kerr started working with the team in the non-final playoff games.
This loss puts into question the future of the current incarnation of the Warriors team.
As the Warriors go home to reevaluate things, the Lakers will meet the Denver Nuggets in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday.
