The fine was for “making improper conduct with a spectator.” NBA officials later confirmed that Jokic will just be fined and not suspended.
After the ruling, Kevin Durant of the Suns said: “Glad none of that can get in the way.”
“We can just focus on basketball.”
“I didn’t think it was nothing,” Durant added.
“Stuff happens in a basketball game. Everybody is emotional at that point, but with so much stuff going on around the league with that stuff, the suspensions, I knew it was going to be a story, but I’m glad we’ve moved past it.”
Suns coach Monty Williams also commented on the fine saying: “I just heard about the decision and that’s that.”
“I’m focused on us playing better, making the adjustments that we need to make. Being better at things we need to be better in. That’s my mindset. I don’t want to give energy and time to something that I can’t control. I’m good with it.”
Cameron Payne of the Suns also said that he is not surprised that Jokic did not get a suspension.
“It’s playoffs,” he said.
“I don’t really know all the exact rules and everything with the fans and all that. It’s the playoffs, man. Everybody wants to see that man play.”
Ishbia himself also said that he doesn’t want Jokic suspended.
