The Los Angeles Clippers appear to have lost All-Star forward Paul George for the final stretch prior to the NBA playoffs due to a right knee injury.

George landed awkwardly attempting a rebound in Tuesday’s 101-100 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder and needed to be helped off the court after falling to the floor in pain.

The Clippers have since confirmed that George has been diagnosed with a sprained right knee injury.

George will miss at least two weeks with the injury, with the All-Star due to be re-evaluated in two to three weeks’ time.

The Clippers, who are fifth in the Western Conference with a 38-35 record, have nine more regular-season games.

LA’s regular season is due to conclude on April 9 against the Phoenix Suns, in just over a fortnight, meaning George may be out until the playoffs, should they make it.

The Clippers are no guarantees to make the playoffs given the tight nature of Western Conference, with a logjam of teams from the fourth-place Phoenix Suns (38-33) down to the 12th-placed New Orleans Pelicans (35-37) heading into Wednesday’s slate.

Clippers team-mate Kawhi Leonard has found his groove over the past three months, averaging 27.4 points per game in March, having endured injuries in recent seasons.

George is averaging 23.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game this season.
