The Los Angeles Lakers’ steady push towards making it to a playoff spot has hit a speedbump as LeBron James suffers a right foot injury.

The injury occurred during Sunday night’s victory over the Dallas Mavericks. He injured his right foot and reportedly heard a pop. Despite lacking mobility, he continued to play and managed to score 11 points in the fourth quarter.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted:

“LeBron James’s right foot is expected to be reassessed in two weeks to see how much progress he’s made, but the timeline on return is expected to extend beyond that checkpoint.”

“Where Lakers reside in standings by then could impact how soon it makes sense for him to return.”

The Lakers now face the challenge of continuing the season without their franchise player for at least the next two weeks.

It is up to the remainder of the team, particularly its new players, to step up and prove that the Lakers are formidable even without James’ talent behind them.

The Lakers are next to go up against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The team is currently 12th-seeded in the Western Conference and has won three straight games so far.
