According to Forbes the Boston Celtics are the fifth most valuable franchise in the NBA.

Other clubs in the list include the Golden State Warriors at the top spot. Following the Warriors are the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, and the Celtics.

The Boston franchise is valued at $4 Billion for this year. Golden State is way ahead of the Celtics with a whopping $7 Billion. Last season, the Warriors were estimated to have taken home a US$250 million in premium seating.

On average, NBA Teams are worth US$2.86 Billion, an increase of 15% from last year.

The Celtics are owned by an ownership group and was purchased in 2002 for US$360 million. Should the owners decide to sell, they are bound to make a huge return on their purchase price.

In total, Forbes estimates that the Celtics made $360 million in profits last season. They are also estimated to have had an estimated operating income of $137 million.

For the last three years, the Celtics have held on to the third spot in the financial magazines list.

Twelve NBA Teams are valued at US$3 Billion or more.

At the bottom of the list are the New Orleans Pelicans but their US$1.6 Billion is still nothing to be scoffed at.
