Thompson has played 651 regular season games and 145 post-season games and until the game against the Phoenix Suns, he has never been in a heated exchange on the court.
His back and forth with Booker got so heated that Thompson had to be held back by officials who gave him back-to-back technical fouls.
The issues began halfway through the third quarter. Chris Paul, DeAndre Ayton, and Draymond Green had all received technicals for various reasons.
It got to a point where Thompson and Booker were chest-to-chest. Later, Booker said that there were no hard feelings against the Golden State player.
“I love Klay Thompson,” said Booker.
“I have from the beginning. From the draft, coming out I said I wanna be Klay Thompson. That doesn’t excuse us from competing against each other and talking a little mess with each other.”
“So have fun with it. Big fan of his and his competitive nature. That’s that.”
It was not an easy match for Thompson even before the ejection. He only had two points and two assists at that point and he had missed all of his three-point attempts.
Another player who was in trouble that night was Jordan Poole who also fouled against Booker.
The seven technical fouls received by the Warriors that game were the most seen in a quarter since the 1996-1997 season.
