Klay Thompson has empathically refuted reports that he retiring from the NBA when his contract with the NBA expires in June next year.

“There’s a report out there . . . I have no intention of retiring in 2024,” he said unprompted Thursday.

“If you write some dumb s–t like that, just be held accountable,” he added. “That’s crazy. Just because I didn’t play 5-on-5 doesn’t mean I’m going to retire. That is absurd. That’s all I got to say.”

The other half of the Golden State Warriors splash brothers was referring to the comments made by Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle during a segment on KNBR Radio on Monday.

Letourneau had said: “The reality is that Klay does have two more years on his deal.”

“I personally would not be shocked if Klay just retired from basketball at the end of that contract.”

“I don’t think it’s going to be between this season and next season.”

“If he does retire in the near future it would be after his contract ends. He’s had no interest or desire to talk about extensions, even though he is extension eligible right now.”

Thompson has two more years remaining after he signed a five-year contract with the Warriors back in July 2019. If he does not sign a contract extension with the team, he will become a free agent.

Since he joined the NBA In 2011, Thompson has only played for the Warriors and has said before that he would like to play his entire career with the team and it now looks like he has intentions of playing past 2024.

Thompson has recently come back from surgery on his torn left ACL. Since his comeback, he has become an integral part of the Warriors lineup again.
