Surely, this new protocol will make everything difficult for the players as they are forced to follow the mandates of the law.
NBA had already informed all NBA that unvaccinated NBA players are not allowed to travel to Toronto. If he did, he will be stuck in Toronto and won’t be able to reenter the US. This new rule is effective on January 15, 2022, as Canada also mandated that all visitors entering Canada must be vaccinated.
Even the Toronto Raptors are not excused for this new law. Just in case they are still unvaccinated and playing in the US after January 15, then they won’t be able to enter Canada. These rules are not just because NBA imposed them on the players. The NBA is bound to follow whatever Canadian and US laws had to implement.
NBA had announced that they should provide a list of unvaccinated players by Friday to be submitted to the league office. NBA had also threatened teams that if a player could not provide proof of their vaccination are subject to penalties or a game suspension.
Luckily, 97% of the players are already vaccinated. Brooklyn Nets Kyrie Irving was one of the unvaccinated players and is still refusing to get a vaccine for personal reasons.
