Before playing at the Staple Center for the Los Angeles Lakers’ game, he has to showcase his pitching skills in the Dodger Stadium first.

Another dream came true for LA Lakers star Russell Westbrook by participating in the Los Angeles Dodgers game on Sunday. He was assigned to throw the ceremonial first pitch as he donned his No. 0 Dodgers jersey. Other LA Lakers who have participated in the past ceremonial first pitch were Jordan Clarkson, Nick Young, Anthony Davis, and Luke Walton.

Russell Westbrook is a native of Los Angeles and he was a great fan of the LA Dodgers since 2008. Westbrook is the second current player who has thrown out the first pitch after Anthony Davis.

The ceremonial first pitch is usually reserved for Lakers and Clippers players over the years. In 2018, LeBron James was invited to do the first pitch, yet he was unable to show up. This is perhaps of the hostile fans who might “boo” him during his throw. It’s a good thing that Westbrook created a mark on the Laker’s fans, and he had gotten a warm reception from fans outside the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers posted a short clip of Westbrook throwing his first pitch, with the caption “An LA kid’s dream.” Westbrook also posted with a catchphrase, “Why not?”.

The LA Lakers will be playing for the preseason on October 4 against the Brooklyn Nets. They are hoping to recover after they failed to proceed to the previous season’s finals.
