The 2020 Tokyo Olympics has recently concluded with Team USA winning gold for the fourth consecutive time. With this, the team focuses on preparing for the next Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.
By that time, a new director will be managing Team USA as this was Jerry Colangelo’s last year with Grant Hill taking over. Gregg Popovich’s tenure as the new head coach also ended with his gold medal win in the Tokyo Olympics.
Even the roster can change drastically based on whether the senior players like Kevin Durant and Draymond Green would still like to compete. But even if they don’t want to join, there is yet a star player that hasn’t made his Olympics debut.
Stephen Curry could finally check off playing in the Olympics in his list in 2024. This summer, he declined to play for Team USA with reason said to be the NBA seasons quick turnaround.
However, he expressed interest in playing at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. According to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, this could be the only thing left on Curry’s Hall of Fame career.
Curry has completed the highest level of international competition, having played for the World Cup at least once. So, according to Kerr, the Olympics is about the only thing to complete Curry’s basketball achievements.
As for the possibility of Kerr becoming Team USAs next head coach, he said it would be a delight to do so if the opportunity arises. Kerr said that he would, of course, be interested, and if he were considered, he would be honored.
