However, that big lead quickly evaporated, and the Bucks never let it up from there, taking their third win in the finals.
The Phoenix had the first quarter, leading the Bucks 37-21. The Suns had a chance at the start with Giannis Antetokounmpo headed to the bench for a rest. But the Phoenix blew it within 4 minutes and 12 seconds, their 16-point lead was gone. At that point, the Bucks tied it at 42 apiece, never letting it up from there.
Milwaukee led the game by then, scoring as many as 14 points in the second half. Even though the Suns cut it back, Game 5 ended in a 123-110 victory for the Bucks, now taking the lead at 3-2. When discussing their loss, Devin Booker didn’t mince his words when he said they let go of the great start they had.
The Sun’s star couldn’t help but be frustrated and disappointed. The Bucks simply stayed resilient throughout the game, so its admittedly a tough loss for the Phoenix team. Booker did everything to prevent their loss, evidenced by the game-changing 40+ points he made.
His teammates also helped a lot, shooting 11 of 15 3-pointers and 31 of 54 from the field. The Suns had been more competitive than ever, but they couldnt stop the Bucks. Its no excuse to squander a 16-point lead that quick, but Phoenix, unfortunately, did it, which might essentially cost them the championship.
