The Los Angeles Clippers have confirmed that star forward Kawhi Leonard will miss Tuesday’s Game 2 of their Conference finals against the Phoenix Suns.
Leonard injured his knee in the Los Angeles Clippers’ series victory over the Utah Jazz, sitting out the final two games.
The Clippers have maintained the line that Leonard has a sprained right knee and will monitor him on a game-to-game basis, rather than declaring him out of the remainder of the playoffs amid reports the injury is significant.
Clippers coach Tyronn Lue said Leonard had remained heavily involved in the coaching and preparation side in the lead-up to Game 2.
Meanwhile, the Suns appear set to be without Chris Paul again after he entered into the league’s health and safety protocols.
“There’s no update,” Suns coach Monty Williams said after Monday’s practice. “Nothing’s changed.”
Another player who is under a cloud for Game 2 is Clippers forward Marcus Morris Snr with knee soreness.
“Still experiencing some soreness, but he’s been getting treatment around the clock,” Lue said.
“Not quite sure of his status tomorrow, but he’s doing everything in his power to try to be out there tomorrow night.”
The Clippers and the Suns will meet in Arizona on Tuesday, while in the East, the Milwaukee Bucks commence their series against the Atlanta Hawks at home on Wednesday.
