The Portland Trailblazers said they will put a dent on the Golden State Warrior’s legacy but after Game 1, the Warriors are proving to be tough competition. Stephen Curry made nine 3-pointers and scored a total of 36 points, helping the team to beat the Portland Trailblazers in the first game of the Western Conference Finals.
Golden State Defense was Spot On
Even with the presence of the Portland duo, Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, the Trailblazers found themselves facing the tough defense of the Warriors. This was Curry’s 4th 30-point performance this postseason and had more opportunities to score compared to the last round against the Houston Rockets.
Also scoring big time for the Warriors was Klay Thompson who garnered a total of 26 points plus a late on-handed slam. Draymond Green finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, as well as 5 assists and 3 blocks, plus 2 steals. Green started and finished well giving the team the much needed energy to get the hype going.
A Little Brother Rivalry Adds Excitement
Not only are the Warriors playing against the Trailblazers. It just so happens that Steph’s little brother, Seth Curry plays for the Portland professional basketball team. In the first game, Seth struggled giving only 3 points for the team. Many are looking forward to this brother rivalry for the remaining games in the Western Conference Finals.
Game 2 will be on Friday and whether or not the Trailblazers will actually put a dent in the Warriors’ legacy remains to be told. This is the fifth straight Western Conference Finals appearance by the Golden State Warriors, the only team other than the Lakers to be able to do so.
