The sixth man of the year – Eric Gordon

If you’ve been wondering who the sixth man of the year award should go to this season in the NBA then look no further than the Houston Rockets sixth man Eric Gordon.

Gordon has come a long way for someone NBA fans had largely given up on. People forget but he was the #2 ranked high school player in the country in 2007 and was highly touted coming out of college but then the injuries came.

His sophomore year in the NBA he missed 20 games, in the following year he missed 26 games, and after being traded to the Hornets he missed 57 games. After a resurgent 2013-2014 season Gordon again was held back by injuries in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016.

Luckily though the Houston Rockets came calling after deciding to surround James Harden with three point shooters. In Mike D’Antoni’s system Gordon is thriving and finally making the most of his prime. It also doesn’t hurt having a playmaking superstar like James Harden passing you the ball. With the Rockets on pace to win 62 games this year you can’t deny their sixth man deserves a great deal of the credit and soon an award.
