‘Thursday, August 14, 2008– The US Men’s basketball team, consisting of professional players from the NBA (as has been the case since 1992 and the original Dream Team) has had no problem so far with its opponents at the Beijing Olympics.
Of course, the other countries have their own NBA players as well, so it’s not like it’s professionals against amateurs….they’re all professionals now, of course. (In an editorial aside, I think that’s a pity.)
Tonight, the US team beat Greece by 23 points, 92-69.
Kobe Bryant and Chris Bosh each finished with 18 points, DeWayne Wade put in 17, and LeBron James, 13.
This victory avenges the US team’s loss to the Greeks two years ago, in the semifinals of the 2006 world championships.
