The term "alley", or commonly called the power alley is used in baseball which describes the sections of the field where the division of the left and center field and the right and center field are located. They are named to be power alleys because the team hitter usually hits the ball on the nose, meaning with great power. The standard size of an alley is often compared to a ballpark to another, but this would depend on the outfield's configuration. At the same time, the standard measurement of the power alley would be about 350 feet from the home plate.
The Uses of the Alley
Power Alley is one of the overrated parts of the fields, but they're utilized where players can display great power. Since most players are comfortable within this zone, people can only notice how hitter-friendly the hitter is. Power hitters or the team's sluggers are the ones who have full control of the ball, as they often drive the ball until hitting the home run and other bases. According to the Baseball Statistics, the slugging percentage is measured based on the batting number of the batter. Then the total bases would be divided by the "at-bats" or time of bat. Players tend to be more aggressive when they stepped into the power alley. Most of the time, they can show off their abilities in throwing the ball, while others are swinging their first attempt to throw their first-pitch strike. Others have unwavering patience, while others are working out with their pitch count for them to easily observe the types that they wanted to use. Generally, contact hitters tend to be more aggressive, whereas the power hitters can watch out for the borderline strikes so they can get extra bases.
