In baseball, the player who is assigned by recorders as number 7 is the left infielder. The left fielder is an outfielder who has defense functions and he stands guards over the left the area of the left field. The left field is the part of the outfield that is located on the left of the player who stands on the home plate faces the pitcher’s mound.
In general, outfielders have to move and cover a large expanse of the field. To do this, he must have quick reflexes, sharp instincts, and fast movements. He has to be able to react fast to the ball and know immediately what to do with it depending on what’s happening in the other bases.
Throw with Accuracy
The outfielder – both the left fielder and the right fielder – should have the gift of being able to throw the ball with accuracy over long distances. They have to be able to judge how and where to catch the ball and whether there are risks that come with letting the ball pass them or catching them. The outfielder should also exercise quick judgment and know if it is better to let the ball fall so that a swift play can take place and to stop the advance of players running from base to base.Familiarity with Foul Lines
Specifically, for left fielders, they should be familiar with the different configurations or locations of different ballparks and their respective foul territories. This familiarity will allow them to prevent balls that have been hit down foul lines from moving past them and rolling or flying into the left-field area.It is not surprising if and when new players occupying the 7th position or playing as left fielders have difficulty concentrating on fast-paced games. This is because they are relatively at a distance from all of the action. It is important to give adequate emphasis to the correct position they should take because this will give the outfielders reason to closely concentrate whenever a hit is made at the pitch. Hits that fly to the left-field have the tendency to curve and head towards the foul line of the left-field, and this is something that left-field players should adjust to.
