A “pitcher’s duel” occurs when two active pitchers continuously get batters but there aren’t any or many runs being scored by both teams. A baseball game with a “pitcher’s duel” will generally have a few pitches pitched by both pitchers, few hits, few runs, and a lot of strikeouts.
