Chances accepted is a term used to evaluate a defensive player’s effectiveness. It measures the number of plays a defensive player has held the ball and led to either a successful putout or assist during play. This is used in the fielding percentage calculated as: chances accepted divided by total chances (total number of assists, errors, and putouts).
