In baseball history, the dead-ball era was the period scanning from 1900s up until Babe Ruth’s era in 1919. It’s called a dead-ball period because of the lack of excitement in between. There was a general lack of home runs and a lot of low-scoring games. The game was characterized by hit-and-run types of plays and stolen bases instead of focusing the strategies on home runs. This game drought ended when Babe Ruth emerged as a power hitter, resulting to spectacular games for baseball fans.
