A cheap run is an undeserved run won solely because of a technicality. A run is considered cheap if the team did not work to earn the score. For example, a home run brought by a pitcher walking four batters straight is considered sloppy play, and is thus a cheap run. This is subjective and may depend on the standards of both fans and players.
