When a batter is deceived on a given pitch or did not act on a pitch, he is said to be caught looking. This is because instead of swinging the bat, the batter instead just watches the curveball. The third strike should ark or cross the plate within the strike zone for a batter to be caught looking. Batters often caught looking are said to have poor knowledge of the zone and this results in a strikeout.
