A count in the sum of plate appearances against a team or certain pitcher is known as Batters Faced (BF). It can also be computed as the sum of runs, total outs, and runners left on base. In baseball statistics, a perfect record should be equivalent to 27 batters faced, or 27 outs. Pitchers with a high BF number turn out to have the most innings thrown.
