Nick Evans
Nicholas Reginald Evans is a professional baseball player from the United States of America who plays out on left field or on first base. Throughout his minor league career, Evans was a first base player however in 2008, he shifted to the left field.
Evans’ playing career began in St. Mary’s High School following which he was picked at the 2004 MLB Amateur Draft by the New York Mets. Evans began playing in the Rookie League with the Gulf Coast Mets, before moving onto the Kingsport Mets in 2005. Evans moved up to the Low A-League towards the latter half of the season, playing for the Brooklyn Cyclones.
In 2006, Evans moved up to the A-League to play at Hagerstown, batting at .256 with 15 homers to his name. In 2007, he moved onto the St. Lucie Mets in the Advanced A-League. Batting at .286, Evans hit 15 homers again with 54 RBI. He moved onto the Binghampton Mets in the AA-League, batting at .311 with 53 RBI and 14 home runs in 2008. After Marlon Anderson went on the Disabled List, Evans was called up as the replacement in the MLB roster.
He became the first Mets player, since Kazuo Matsui, to hit three extra-base hits on his MBL debut.
In 2009, Evans again began playing with the Binghampton Mets, getting another call to the Mets when Ryan Church was placed on the disabled list. He also spent some time with the Buffalo Bisons, in the AAA-League, before being called up to replace Johan Santana, who got injured.
Evans was named to the 40-man roster, for the 2010 season, by the New York Mets.
