Brent Leach is a professional baseball player from the United States of America who plays as a pitcher. Leach played for the Brandon Bulldogs at the Brandon High School before moving on to attend the University of Southern Mississippi. He played NCAA-ball for two seasons before declaring for the MLB Amateur Draft in 2005, getting picked at 196th overall by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Leach began playing with the Ogden Raptors in the Rookie League before moving up to the Columbus Catfish in 2006. Playing for the Catfish, Leach had a 4-2 record from 10 games with a 3.27 ERA, good enough for a promotion to the Vero Beach Dodgers in the Advanced A-League, within the same season.

After 30 games for the Vero Beach Dodgers, Leach would go on to spend the whole of 2007 in the Advanced A-League, this time with the Inland Empire 66ers. He began 2008 with the 66ers before moving up to the Jacksonville Suns in the AA-League and getting named to the 40-man roster, of the LA Dodgers, for the 2009 season.

Leach was designated for assignment in 2009, starting with the AA-League’s Chattanooga Lookouts before moving onto the Albuquerque Isotopes in the AAA-League. Despite a 6.75 ERA in 18 games, Leach had a 2-0 record and that was good enough for him to be called up to the MLB roster to make his debut against the Washington Nationals. After 38 games and 20.1 innings with the Dodgers, Leach was sent back to the AAA-League towards the end of the season.

At the beginning of the 2010 season, Leach was named to the 40-man roster for the MLB and is considered a good candidate for the starting rotation at the Dodgers.
