Felipe A. Paulino Del Guidice is a professional baseball player from the Dominican Republic who plays as a pitcher. Paulino was picked up from the local leagues in the Dominican Republic, when he was 18. The Houston Astros scouted and signed Paulino in 2001, adding him to their minor league affiliate at the Rookie League level, the Greenville Astros.

Paulino took little time in running through the system although he only joined the Astros’ farm structure in 2004. After 10 games for the Greenville Astros in the Rookie League, Paulino moved up to the Tri-City ValleyCats in the Low A-League where he played another 13 games, starting just 2. With a 2-2 record and a 3.82 ERA, Paulino was promoted to the A-League with the Lexington Legends, towards the end of 2005. Paulino played 7 games with the Legends and had a 1-1 record to show for his efforts.

2006 was spent at the Salem Avalanche in the Advanced A-League while 2007 began in the AA-League courtesy of his 9-7 record and 91 strikeouts for the Avalanche.

After playing for the Corpus Christi Hooks for 22 games, Paulino notched up 110 strikeouts in 112.0 innings at an ERA of 3.62 and ended the stint with a 6-9 record.

He directly got called up to the MLB roster in September of 2007 when he made his debut against the Milwaukee Brewers. On his debut, Paulino gave up 5 runs in 3 innings, and only ended up playing 5 games that season for the Astros.

In 2008, he was sent down to the Round Rock Express in the AAA-League where Paulino again went about creating a place for himself in the Astros’ MLB roster. However, after just 2 pitches in his first game of the season, Paulino got injured and was out for the remainder of the season. He played 7 games at the AAA-League in a bid to gain fitness, for the 2009 season, and then was called up to the Astros for his second stint.

This time ‘round, Paulino had 93 strike outs in 97.2 innings pitched, racking up a 3-11 win-loss record at a 6.23 ERA in 23 games.
