Edwin Maysonet is a professional baseball player from Puerto Rico who plays as an infielder. Maysonet went to the Delta State University following which, he declared for the 2003 MLB Amateur Draft. Picked in the 19th round by the Houston Astros, Maysonet began playing in the Low A-Division. Posting a .275 batting average in 45 games, Maysonet hit 13 RBIs on his way to the A-Division in 2004. Alternating between second base and shortstop, this versatile fielder was still looking to make an impact with the bat. His college average of .348 had dropped to .261 in 2004 and would go on to drop even further to .195, in the Advanced A-Division in 2005.

By the end of 2006, Maysonet had ensured a place for himself in the AA-Division where he batted at .271 for 2007. In 2008, he mimicked the batting average while playing for the Round Rock Express in the AAA-League. After 117 games at the AAA-Division, Maysonet was called up to the MLB roster to represent the Houston Astros.

Making his Major League debut in September of 2008, Maysonet was sent back to the AAA-Division at the start of the 2009 season. After around 60 games at .235, he was called back up to the Majors where he batted at an average of .290 for the remainder of the year.
