Humberto Cota
Humberto Cota is a professional baseball player from Mexico and plays as a catcher. Humberto was picked by the Pittsburgh Pirates and made his MLB debut in 2001. He played very few games at the highest level and was mostly languishing in the lower leagues with affiliates of the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 2007-08, he became a free agent and decided to sign a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals.
However, soon after signing on, Cota was assigned to the minor leagues during Spring Training and decided to forgo the opportunity and sign with the Colorado Rockies in another minor league contract. In May, 2008, Cota failed a drug test and was subsequently suspended for 50 games. He returned as a free agent at the end of the season and signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds that included an invite for their Spring Training camp in 2009.
