Chad Fox
Chad Douglas Fox is a professional baseball player from the United States of America, who plays as a pitcher. Chad began his playing career with the Atlanta Braves in 1997. He moved to the Milwaukee Brewers in 1998 for a single season but in 1999-00, he missed the entire year through injury, returning to the Brewers in 2001. Fox came into prominence in 2001 in a setup role and pitched for 66 2/3 innings with a 5-2 record and a 1.89 ERA. He struck out 80 batters in what was to be his last season without any injuries.
In 2002, he had a number of weeks sidelined on the Disabled List, a feature that persisted in 2003 when he was with the Boston Red Sox. He moved to the Florida Marlins in 2003 and managed to stay fit for some time. He had 21 appearances with a 2.13 ERA and then added 9 more outings in the post-season which helped the Marlins win the World Series Championships. He was back at the Marlins in 2004 but was quite ineffective, before being placed on the disabled list again.
He was part of the Chicago Cubs in 2005 but remained quite ineffective again. Fox just pitched in 8 innings before injuring his elbow, something that threatened to end his career, although it managed to do so temporarily. Sidelined for 2 years, he returned to action in 2008 signing a minor league deal with the Chicago Cubs for a year. He had a number of starts with the A-League and AA-league affiliates of the Cubs before making a return to the 25-man MLB roster. He finally made his MLB debut against the St. Louise Cardinals in May, 2008. Fox re-contracted his elbow injury but decided to rest rather than go under the knife. He was re-signed by the Cubs for another year in the minors in 2009.
