Joey Renard Gathright
Joey Renard Gathright is a professional baseball player from the United States of America and plays as an outfielder for the Chicago Cubs. Joey attended the Bonnabel High School and was a part of the baseball team as a junior. In the 2001 MLB Draft, he decided to register and was picked in the 32nd round by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
Playing through the minor leagues, Joey got the reputation of being extremely fast and in 2004, when he made his MLB debut, he was considered to be the fastest outfielder with a 3.06 range factor, the highest amongst all MLB outfielders. His career batting average stands at .263.
In 2006, Joey was traded out to the Kansas City Royals, along with Fernando Cortez, in exchange for J. P. Howell. He batted at .238 that season. In December of 2008, the Royals refused to renew his contract and Gathright was later signed on for a one-year deal with the Chicago Cubs.
