Ronny Alexander Cedeno is a professional baseball player from Venezuela who plays primarily as a shortstop. Cedeno joined the Cubs' farm system in 1999 and stayed in the minor for a major part of 5-years before finally getting named to the Cubs' MLB roster in 2005. In 2004, he played for the Diamond Jaxx and had a .279 batting average in the AA-league. He was also named as a mid-season Southern League All Star.

Brought on as a replacement for Nomar Garciaparra, Cedeno stayed on the bench. Cedeno was sent back to the Iowa Cubs in 2005 after Neifi Perez was brought in as a replacement for the Shortstop position. At Iowa, Cedeno had a .255 batting average in 65 games and slugged at over .500.

He went back home to Venezuela to play in the winter league and had a .355 average in 45 games, scoring 25 runs and 28 RBI. He came back to the Chicago Cubs in 2007, this time on the bench. He was forced to spend more time in the AAA-league after having major problems offensively. With the trade out of center fielder Jacque Jones, Cedeno was asked to play at the position for a bit during winter.

In 2008, spring training helped Cedeno to get to the Major League Roster place and has been part of the team continuously although only on the bench. As the year went on, he got some opportunities to take the field although mainly as a pinch hitter and a defensive replacement.
