Koyie Hill
Koyie Dolan Hill is a professional baseball player from the United States of America and plays as a third baseman. Hill attended the Wichita State University and was impressive as a third baseman with an average of .355 with 186 RBIs. In 1999, he was selected to Team USA as a second baseman and had a .284 batting average with 3 homers and 21 RBI.
Hill played his first ever Major League game for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2003. However, he was only a backup for most of the games where he was part of the roster and a year later, was traded out to the Arizona Diamondbacks. He had a .250 batting average with a single homer to his name before entering the injury list with a broken ankle.
In 2005, Hill was the starting catcher for the Diamondbacks but didn't perform as was expected off of him. He kept rotating his position with Chris Snyder, both taking turns to don the catcher's mitt. He, along with Snyder, were left to fight for the backup role to Johnny Estrada in 2006 but despite an impressive spring training performance, where he had a .500 batting average, Hill was unable to break into the spot.
He was waived off by the Diamondbacks in 2006 and signed up with the New York Yankees. Hill went onto spend much time with the Columbus Clippers in the AAA-League and was released at the end of the season. At the end of 2006, Hill signed a Minor League contract with the Chicago Cubs.
Midway through 2007, he got a call up to the Major League side to replace Henry Blanco who was placed on the injury list and on his very first day, went on in the 6th inning for Michael Barrett who got ejected. He signed another Minor League contract in 2007 and in 2008, the Cubs decided to bring him into the 40-man roster for the Major Leagues.
