Kevin Gregg
A relief pitcher, Kevin Marschall Gregg is a professional baseball player from the United States of America. During high school, Kevin was a part of his school's football, basketball and baseball teams although he just chose to continue with baseball as his career option.
In the 1996 MLB draft, Kevin was picked up by the Oakland Athletics at 435th place, overall. He was part of the minor leagues, mostly, before becoming a free agent in 2002 and then signing up for the Anaheim Angels.
His career in the Major Leagues began with the Angels when Kevin made his first start in August. He continued for three more seasons with the team as the Spot-starter and a middle reliever before being traded out to the Florida Marlins in 2006.
Gregg was part of the 2007 Spring Training as a potential candidate for the closer's role in the Marlins' roster. However, he was back to middle reliever after the team brought in Jorge Julio. Gregg ended up as the closer after Julio was traded out and Henry Owens, the back-up man, was out of the game after injuring himself. In 36 chances, Gregg made 32 saves and had a 3.54 ERA despite not being the closer for almost a month and a half.
In 2008, Gregg injured his left knee and was out indefinitely. Upon his return, he was pushed back into the middle reliever spot and later, traded out to the Chicago Cubs.
