Connor Jackson
Connor Sims Jackson is an American professional baseball player who is part of the National League. A right-handed bat and thrower, Jackson is known by a variety of nick-names such as Co-Jack, Throw-Jack, Action and Schooner Jinx. A graduate of the El Camino High School in the year 2000, Jackson decided to further his baseball career at the University of California where he played as a third baseman. His college performances were absolutely wonderful and led the Pac-10 with a .538 OBP in his junior year. In the same year, he was drafted at 19th overall, as part of the 2003 MLB Amateur Draft, by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
As soon as he was drafted, Jackson was shipped out to the outfield as his defensive capabilities were always a bit short. He debuted with Yakima in the Northwerst League where he had a .319 batting average and a league record of 35 doubles. He moved up the ladder rather smoothly and also moved to first base in the process. He first saw big league action in 2005 when he took the first baseman's job at Wrigley Field.
In 2005, he had 2 home runs in 85 "at-bats" while he averaged at around .200/.303/.306. His performance just went up and soon, he became the first choice baseman for the Diamondbacks. In 2007, his fielding percentage dropped to .988, the lowest amongst all first-basemen in the Major League.
The following year, he hit a purple-patch in April when he hit 12 times, scoring 10 runs with 10 RBI and three home-runs, all in one week. That got him the National League Player of the Week title as well.
