Juan José Soto Pacheco was born on October 25, 1998, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The Dominican player is 188 cm tall.

He has competed as an outfielder for his entire professional tenure. He bats and throws left-handed and is known for his plate discipline. His father was a catcher in a local men's league.

Career

Soto began his professional campaign after signing with the Washington Nationals as an international free agent in 2015. He made his Major League Baseball debut in 2018 and finished as the runner-up for the National League (NL) Rookie of the Year Award.

In 2019, he was a central figure in the Nationals' run to their first World Series championship. In the shortened 2020 season, he won the NL batting title with a .351 average.

Soto was traded to the San Diego Padres at the 2022 trade deadline and was then dealt to the New York Yankees following the 2023 season. In his one season with the Yankees, he reached the 2024 World Series.

After the 2024 season, he signed a 15-year, $765 million contract with the New York Mets, the largest in professional sports history at the time. He continues to play for the Mets as of late 2025.
