Career
Hays grew up in Port Orange, Florida and he played for Spruce Creek High School. He also played for the Seminole State College of Florida. He later transferred to Jacksonville University where he also played baseball.
In 2015, he played in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks.
He was drafted into the MLB during the 2016 draft. The Baltimore Orioles selected him in the third round. They had him play in the minor leagues for teams including the Aberdeen IronBirds, the Frederick Keys, and the Bowie Baysox.
In September 2017, he was promoted to play for the majors. A few days after his debut, he made his first MLB hit. His performance struggled in 2018 and he did not play in the MLB. He came back in 2019 and he played in the Arizona Fall League. In 2020, he played for the Orioles and in April 2021, he was placed on the injured list because of a hamstring injury.
