Career
Tejeda's baseball journey began at Liceo Club de Leones High School in his home country, where he developed his skills before being signed as an amateur free agent by the Philadelphia Phillies on November 24, 1998. He kicked off his professional career in the minor leagues with the GCL Phillies in 1999, quickly moving up through the ranks with teams like the Single-A Lakewood BlueClaws and Clearwater Threshers. By 2004, he was competing at the AA level with the Reading Phillies.His major league debut came on May 10, 2005, when he appeared in 26 games for the Philadelphia Phillies, alternating between starting and relief roles. Tejeda's trajectory took a turn when he was traded to the Texas Rangers in early 2006, where he initially struggled but later found his footing, earning a place in the starting rotation for the 2007 season. However, inconsistency led to another demotion.
In 2008, the Kansas City Royals claimed Tejeda off waivers, offering him a new opportunity to prove himself.
