Career

Meche began his baseball journey at Acadiana High School before launching into professional play. He was selected in the first round of the 1996 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners. Over the next few years, he climbed the ranks of the minor leagues, playing for various teams including the Everett Aqua Sox and the New Haven Ravens. He made his major league debut on July 6, 1999, against the Anaheim Angels, making him one of the youngest players to debut for the Mariners.

Despite a promising start, Meche's early career was marred by injuries, leading to multiple surgeries on his shoulder, which sidelined him for the entire 2001 and 2002 seasons. However, he made a strong comeback in 2003, showcasing his abilities once again on the mound.
