Marcus Thames is a former professional baseball player from the United States, known for his role as a first baseman. Born on March 6, 1977, in Louisville, Mississippi, he carved out an impressive career in Major League Baseball, particularly with the Detroit Tigers.

Early Life and Education

Thames pursued his education at East Central Community College in Decatur, Mississippi, where he began to cultivate his baseball talents. His journey into professional baseball began when he was selected by the New York Yankees in the 30th round of the 1996 amateur draft.

Minor League Journey

His minor league career was extensive, with stints in various teams, including the GCL Yankees and the Greensboro Bats. Over the years, he played for teams such as the Tampa Yankees, Norwich Navigators, and Columbus Clippers.
