Career
Rafael's journey in professional baseball began when he was signed by the Boston Red Sox as an amateur free agent in 1993. He spent several years in the minor leagues, making his way through various teams including the Michigan Battle Cats, GCL Red Sox, Sarasota Red Sox, and the Trenton Thunder. His persistence paid off when he eventually joined the Indians in 2003 after being released by Boston.During his time with the Indians, Betancourt became a prominent figure in the bullpen, showcasing his skills as a relief pitcher. In January 2008, he solidified his commitment to the team by signing a two-year contract extension, demonstrating the organization's faith in his abilities.
