Miller attended Yucaipa High School in Yucaipa, California, where he was a star in both baseball and football. He earned first-team All-State and All-CIF honors in baseball, leading his team to CIF titles in 1993 and 1994.

Miller was inducted into the Yucaipa High School Hall of Fame in 2009.

He then played college baseball for the University of Nevada, Reno from 1997 to 1998. At Nevada, Miller was a career .356 hitter and led the team with a .377 batting average in 1998.

Professional Career

Miller signed with the Cincinnati Reds as an undrafted free agent in 1998. He made his MLB debut on September 4, 2001, with the Reds. Throughout his career, Miller played for five different MLB teams, but is best known for his time with the Reds organization.

Miller was primarily a backup catcher and was valued for his defensive skills and ability to handle pitching staffs. He also occasionally pitched, using a knuckleball. While his MLB statistics were modest, Miller had a significant impact in the minor leagues, particularly with the Louisville Bats, where he set franchise records for games played.

Post-Playing Career

After retiring as a player, Miller transitioned to coaching. He joined the Dayton Dragons, the Reds' A-affiliate, as a coach in 2015 and continues to work in player development for the Reds organization.
