The Blue Jays may have found their next great pitcher in Jesse Litsch. Litsch has pitched back to back shutouts in his last two starts, finishing last night’s game with 7 innings of excellent pitching. Litsch gave up 7 hits and 1 walk last night to the Oakland A’s. The walk was only the second free pass that Litsch has given up in the past 46 innings.
The Jays did more than their part to make sure that Litsch’s pitching didn’t go to waste as they piled on 12 runs. Shannon Stewart homered, and Rod Barajas had 3 RBIs on 3 doubles throughout the course of the game.
Despite somewhat disappointing starts from starters Roy Halladay and AJ Burnett, the Jays are only three games back of the AL East leading Tampa Bay Rays. Litsch improved his record to 7-1 on the season with a 3.18 ERA.
