The Minnesota Twins defeated the Kansas City Royals 5-1 on Thursday, May 29, 2008, lifting their record to 28-25.
The Twins beat the Royals in a regulation game this time, which was a relief because although they had swept the Royals, the first two games in the series went into extra innings before the Twins were able to prevail.
Of course the Royals are in last place in the AL Central witn a 21-32 record – and have the second-worst record in the American League after the Seattle Mariners. (And that’s a shock in itself, as the Mariners were expected to be very competitive this year with the addition of Erik Bedard.
Nevertheless a win’s a win, and three wins in a row are even better.
Tomorrow, Friday, the Twins face Mike Mussina and the New York Yankees. Going to the hill for the Twins is Glen Perkins.
