The Cincinnati Reds are about to end the 2019 season with a record much similar to previous seasons accumulating 73 wins with a week to go versus 67 last season. Despite this, the team has given their fans an improved team that gives their fans hope for the future.
The acquisition of pitcher Trevor Bauer at the trade deadline was a move for 2020 as well, giving the team another ace at the top of the rotation. The team also discovered new talent in Aristides Aquino, Josh VanMeter, and Philip Ervin that was not on the radar when the season started.
Robert Stephenson has shown to be a great addition to the bullpen after a less than stellar starting rotation gig. Jose Iglesias has proved to be great defensively and showed surprising offense.
Third baseman Eugenio Suarez is chasing the home run title this season as he broke the home run record by a Venezulan, a record that meant much to him. Joey Votto has had an un-Votto like season for the second season in a row, but is still valuable and a leader with the younger players.
All in all, there have been a lot of bright spots this season, giving Reds fans hope for the future.
